Urie (Universal Recording Electronics Industries) was an American Audio manufacturing company founded by Bill Putman in 1957, and included a sub-division called Teletronix. Without a doubt, the most enduring recording studio effect ever, is the Urie 1176 limiting amplifier. Although it has been manufactured under a variety of brand names over the years it is still manufactured today by Universal Audio and is used in just about every major recording studio in the world. That is a success!

Urie 1176 Limiting Amplifier
