Ferrofish A32 DANTE AD/DA Converter Details

The Ferrofish A32 Dante was designed to bring the company’s flagship multichannel converter seamlessly into Dante networks, combining vast connectivity with flexible routing in a compact 1U rack unit. Building on the strengths of the original Ferrofish A32, the Dante version adds full Dante integration while retaining all of the powerful features that made its predecessor a studio and live sound workhorse. With the ability to handle 384 channels simultaneously, the Ferrofish A32 Dante became not only a converter but also an indispensable problem-solving tool for complex audio systems.

The unit provides 32 balanced analogue inputs and 32 balanced analogue outputs, delivered through eight D-Sub connectors, supporting studio levels up to +20 dBu with 1 dB adjustment steps. At the digital stage, it includes four pairs of ADAT I/O, dual MADI I/O with both optical and coaxial connectivity, and redundant Dante ports on dual RJ45 jacks. All signals are freely routable in groups of eight channels, giving engineers complete control over signal flow. Redundancy is also a key design feature, with dual MADI and Dante layouts, as well as the option to connect a second power supply, an essential safeguard for live environments.

Sound quality is guaranteed by the use of low-latency Cirrus Logic converters, paired with a temperature-compensated clock and jitter-reduction PLL system. With sample rates up to 192 kHz, crystal-clear audio conversion is assured in even the most demanding situations. Visual clarity is delivered by four high-resolution TFT screens, displaying the levels of all 64 analogue channels simultaneously and providing intuitive menu navigation. The user interface benefits from an integrated help system, ensuring that even complex functions can be accessed with ease.

Further enhancing usability, the Ferrofish A32 Dante includes flexible monitoring options, with a headphone output that can access any input or output signal, or even a custom submix created from any combination of channels. Up to seven mix presets can be stored for instant recall. Operation is straightforward via the front panel using the SELECT wheel and MENU button, with additional control options available over USB, MIDI, or MIDI-over-MADI.

With its combination of massive channel capacity, redundancy, intuitive control, and uncompromising audio quality, the Ferrofish A32 Dante proved itself to be one of the most versatile and reliable solutions for integrating analogue, MADI, ADAT, and Dante systems in studios, live rigs, and broadcast facilities.
