The Bricasti Design MC1 is a dual mono master digital-to-analogue converter designed as a true reference unit for the most demanding audio environments. Built with years of research and refinement, it delivers playback with an emphasis on precision and harmonic integrity, ensuring that instruments and voices retain their natural character, transparency and detail. Its design philosophy is centred on recreating audio waveforms with exact accuracy, allowing engineers, mastering houses and high-end playback systems to experience sound exactly as it was recorded.
The Bricasti Design MC1 employs two completely isolated channels, each with its own dedicated linear power supply, D/A converter, DDS clocking and analogue stage. This dual-mono architecture eliminates analogue crosstalk, improves isolation of power demands, and separates digital processing from analogue audio paths, ensuring the cleanest possible signal. At the heart of each channel, Bricasti’s twin DAC design uses the ADI 1955 stereo D/A chip in mono mode, optimising dynamic range and sonic performance.
Bricasti’s proprietary digital filter technology is a defining feature of the Bricasti Design MC1, enabling precise control of conversion quality. With support for a wide range of inputs including AES/EBU, SPDIF, Toslink, USB and Ethernet (optional), the Bricasti Design MC1 accommodates sample rates up to 384 kHz PCM and DSD128 via DoP, with impressively low jitter measured at 8 psec at 48 kHz and 6 psec at 96 kHz.
The analogue output stage offers both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA connections, providing versatility for integration into professional studios and high-end listening systems. Balanced outputs can reach up to +22 dBm, with a dynamic range greater than 120 dB (A-weighted) and distortion figures as low as 0.0004%, ensuring the Bricasti Design MC1’s status as a true mastering-grade converter.
Constructed from anodised aluminium and built in Massachusetts, USA, each Bricasti Design MC1 is hand-crafted to Bricasti’s exacting standards. Its build quality, attention to detail, and uncompromising design make it not just a converter but a reference tool trusted by those who demand absolute fidelity in digital-to-analogue conversion.
