The Looptrotter SAT 500 is a single-channel 500 series module featuring Looptrotter’s renowned saturation circuit, designed to add low-order harmonics and even out the signal in a smooth, musical way. The Looptrotter SAT 500’s processing not only enriches the sound with warmth and subtle harmonic colour but also significantly increases the RMS level, making signals more present and powerful in a mix.
The DRIVE control sets the input level and depth of saturation, while the PROCESS switch engages true bypass, letting the user compare dry and processed signals instantly. Harmonic content is monitored via two LEDs, which light up at 4% and 8% THD, giving clear visual feedback of saturation intensity. The HI SMOOTH function enhances high frequencies before the saturation circuit and gently attenuates them after, resulting in a richer, more detailed top end with a natural smoothing effect.
To handle bass-heavy material, the LO SAFE option engages a pre-emphasis and de-emphasis circuit that prevents distortion of the lowest frequencies. This makes the module particularly effective for processing bass, kick drums, full drum groups, or entire mixes without compromising low-end clarity.
