Solid State Logic UMD192 is a newly released, high capacity and portable USB audio interface built to meet the demands of modern professional audio environments. Designed for studio, live sound, and broadcast applications, it delivers 192 channels at 48 or 96 kHz, or 128 channels at 192 kHz, all within a compact half rack enclosure. The UMD192 provides seamless integration between USB, MADI and Dante, making it suitable as both a primary computer interface and a powerful format bridge for complex signal routing tasks.
On the network side, the Solid State Logic UMD192 offers fully interoperable Dante Audio over IP with AES67 and ST 2110 support when used with DDM. Its Dante implementation provides latency as low as 0.25 milliseconds, maintaining tight synchronisation and reliable performance for large scale installations. Flexible clocking is provided from either Dante or an incoming MADI stream, allowing straightforward integration into existing systems operating from 44.1 to 192 kHz. The six MADI BNC pairs can be switched into redundant mode, enabling three dual redundant MADI paths for mission critical broadcast or live workflows where continuity is essential.
As a bridging device, the Solid State Logic UMD192 provides bidirectional routing between any two of its three formats, with the third format capable of receiving a split feed. This allows multi device MADI systems to be integrated into Dante networks, or provides a high channel count USB pathway for recording and playback from a DAW. These capabilities make the Solid State Logic UMD192 suitable for SSL ORIGIN or Oracle studio environments, Harrison 32Classic systems with Dante, and non SSL setups requiring robust multi format routing.
The Solid State Logic UMD192 offers multiple power configurations. AC mains power, Power over Ethernet, and USB can all be used individually or in combination, enabling simple failover redundancy. This makes the interface easy to deploy in a variety of locations where stability is paramount. Ruggedised Ethernet ports with activity indicators provide clear visual confirmation of network status.
The front panel provides clear, real time information on sample rate lock, signal flow mode, network connectivity and power. Controls include mode selection, clock source, and MADI redundancy, with all functions protected by a lockout system that prevents accidental adjustments. Holding the padlock button disables lockout temporarily for configuration changes. These straightforward controls allow quick verification and adjustment in time critical environments.
Lightweight and easy to position on a desk, beside a console, or mounted in a rack, the Solid State Logic UMD192 is well suited to mobile or fixed installations. Whether used in broadcast music recording, large scale live sound, postproduction facilities or high channel count studio sessions, the Solid State Logic UMD192 provides a fast, reliable and comprehensive solution for modern multiformat audio workflows.
