500 Series

500 Series effects, often referred to as the “lunchbox” format, are a popular and versatile set of audio processing modules used in professional audio recording and production. Originating in the USA but embraced worldwide, these pint-sized powerhouses allow sound engineers and musicians to customize their signal chain with preamps, EQs, compressors, and various other processors, all fitting neatly into a compact 500 Series rack.

Pultec MEQ-500 Equaliser

Pulse Techniques recently introduced a 500-series version (EQP-500X) of our popular 19″ rack-mount solid-state line amp program equalisers (EQP-1A3-SS & EQP-1S3-SS) equalisers. Based on the venerable API 2520 op-amp followed by a high-quality Triad output transformer, these are preferred by some engineers to the vacuum tube models.
