At the foundation of the ADAM Audio S5V is a 12-inch (305mm) Extended Linear Excursion (ELE) HexaCone bass driver powered by a 700-watt Class D amplifier. Utilising ADAM Audio’s Symmetrical Magnet Assembly (SMA) technology, it achieves extremely accurate, distortion-free low-frequency reproduction down to 25Hz with extraordinary dynamic range. The midrange is handled by a 4-inch (102mm) DCH hybrid dome/cone driver made from carbon composite, powered by a 300-watt Class D amplifier.
This unique design blends the transient precision of a dome with the depth and control of a cone, offering remarkable midrange accuracy and realism. Completing the system is the handcrafted S-ART tweeter, ADAM Audio’s signature Accelerated Ribbon Technology unit, paired with a High-frequency Propagation System (HPS) waveguide milled from solid aluminium, delivering crystal-clear highs up to 50kHz with wide, stable dispersion.
The ADAM Audio S5V’s precision-engineered waveguides for both the mid and high-frequency drivers ensure consistent off-axis response and a broad, controlled sweet spot, allowing multiple listeners to work effectively within the optimal listening area. At the core of the system, a powerful custom DSP engine manages the crossovers and time alignment between drivers, optimising phase coherence and linearity across the full frequency spectrum. The DSP also provides user EQ, room correction, and voicing controls, as well as limiter-based tweeter protection and AES3 digital input processing. Firmware updates and DSP adjustments can be made easily via the integrated USB interface and companion software.
