The KRK Classic 8ss Scott Storch Limited Edition Powered Studio Monitor is the first limited-edition artist signature studio monitor released by KRK, developed in collaboration with legendary producer Scott Storch. Based on the established KRK Classic 8 platform, the KRK Classic 8ss combines the familiar sonic character of the Classic series with distinctive visual styling influenced by Scott Storch’s personal aesthetic. The monitor features a gold chrome electroplated front baffle with Scott Storch’s signature, along with additional logo and signature detailing on the rear panel, setting it apart from the standard Classic 8 model.
All of the core performance elements that made the KRK Classic 8 a long-standing choice in Scott Storch’s own studio are retained in the KRK Classic 8ss. Designed around accurate and reliable monitoring, the Classic 8ss reflects more than 30 years of KRK studio monitor development. The monitor is voiced with a flat frequency response as its default setting, supporting critical listening and improved mix translation. An optional +2 dB KRK Bass Boost can be engaged when required, providing the enhanced low-frequency emphasis associated with earlier KRK monitor designs.
The KRK Classic 8ss is an active, self-powered two-way studio monitor that removes the need for an external amplifier. It is fitted with an 8 inch glass aramid composite woofer for controlled and articulate low-frequency reproduction, paired with a 1 inch textile soft dome tweeter that delivers smooth high-frequency detail and extended upper response. Internal bi-amped Class A/B amplification delivers a total system output of 100 watts, with 75 watts allocated to the low-frequency driver and 25 watts to the high-frequency driver. This matched amplification ensures consistent performance, high headroom, and low distortion during demanding studio sessions.
The enclosure is designed for professional studio environments, featuring a robust cabinet construction and a front-firing bass port that allows greater flexibility in placement, including positioning closer to walls without excessive low-frequency build-up. Rear-panel controls include system volume adjustment along with independent low and high frequency level controls, enabling users to tailor the monitor’s response to room acoustics and personal preferences.
Connectivity is provided via balanced XLR, balanced 6.35 mm TRS, and unbalanced RCA inputs, allowing straightforward integration with a wide range of audio interfaces and mixers. An integrated system-optimised auto-limiter manages transient peaks to protect the drivers, while foam isolation pads on the base help decouple the monitor from supporting surfaces for improved clarity.
