KRK Classic 5 Studio Monitor Details

The KRK Classic 5 Powered Studio Monitor is a compact nearfield monitoring solution designed for accurate and consistent sound reproduction in music production, mixing, and editing environments. Building on KRK’s long-standing reputation for sonic accuracy, the KRK Classic 5 incorporates more than 30 years of monitor design experience.

Drawing on concepts established in earlier ROKIT monitor lines, the KRK Classic 5 is voiced with a flat default frequency response aimed at more critical listening and improved mix translation. An optional +2 dB KRK Bass Boost can be engaged when required, providing the enhanced low-frequency character that many producers have historically associated with KRK monitors. This version is presented in a radiant silver housing with black drivers, offering a distinctive visual update while retaining the established Classic Series performance.

The KRK Classic 5 is an active, self-powered two-way studio monitor that eliminates the need for an external power amplifier. It features a 5 inch glass aramid composite woofer designed for controlled and articulate low-frequency reproduction, paired with a 1 inch textile soft dome tweeter that delivers smooth high-frequency detail with extended upper response.

Internal bi-amped Class A/B amplification provides a total output of 50 watts, with 30 watts dedicated to the low-frequency driver and 20 watts driving the high-frequency driver. This matched amplifier and driver configuration ensures reliable performance, low distortion, and sufficient headroom for nearfield monitoring applications.

The enclosure uses a front-firing bass port, allowing the KRK Classic 5 to be placed close to walls without the low-frequency issues often associated with rear-ported designs. Rear-panel controls include overall system volume as well as independent low and high frequency level adjustments, enabling users to tailor the monitor’s response to suit room acoustics and personal preferences.

Universal connectivity is provided via balanced XLR, balanced 6.35 mm TRS, and unbalanced RCA inputs, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of audio interfaces, mixers, and production equipment. An integrated system-optimised auto-limiter helps manage transient peaks to protect the drivers, while foam isolation pads fitted to the base of the monitor assist with surface decoupling and improved clarity.
