The AKG C214 is a professional large-diaphragm condenser microphone designed as an alternative to the C414 family. It combines one capsule from the C414 dual-capsule system with AKG Back-Plate Technology. Its integrated capsule suspension reduces mechanical noise and vibration. The microphone is suitable for recording lead vocals and solo instruments, with listed applications including piano, strings, horns, woodwinds, drums and percussion.
The AKG C214 has a cardioid polar pattern, a switchable 20dB attenuation pad and a bass-cut filter. With the attenuation pad engaged, it can record sources up to 156dB SPL. The bass-cut filter operates at 160Hz and supports close-up recording with reduced proximity effect. The specified frequency response extends from 20Hz to 20kHz.
The AKG C214 has an all-metal die-cast body with a shock- and scratch-resistant finish. It provides a balanced output through a 3-pin male XLR connector and accepts phantom powering from 9V to 52V, with a specified current consumption of 2mA. The package includes an H85 universal shock mount and a metal carrying case.
