Antelope Atlas i8 Studio Monitor marks the first studio monitor developed by Antelope Audio, created to deliver a modern, high-performance monitoring solution for professional studios. The Antelope Atlas i8 Studio Monitor is built around a distinctive isobaric low-frequency system using two 8-inch woofers mounted one behind the other in a sealed configuration. This design delivers extended low-end performance and high sound pressure levels while dramatically reducing cabinet size and internal air volume, maintaining stability and detail even at extreme operating levels. The result is powerful, controlled bass reproduction without compromising accuracy or physical footprint.
At the heart of the Antelope Atlas i8 Studio Monitor is a proprietary digital processing platform powered by a custom FPGA chip. This system enables precise FIR and IIR filtering for time-aligned response, highly defined transients, and a focused, stable stereo image. The design builds on Antelope Audio’s long-standing expertise in FPGA-based audio development, refined through years of work on professional interfaces, converters, and master clocks. Unlike many DSP-based loudspeakers, the Antelope Atlas i8 Studio Monitor employs the same high-end AD and DA conversion technology found in the company’s flagship Galaxy interfaces, ensuring detailed, transparent audio suitable for true reference monitoring. Each unit is individually tested to deliver consistent performance straight out of the box.
Control and room optimisation are central to the Antelope Atlas i8 Studio Monitor workflow. A dedicated software control panel allows all speaker settings to be adjusted remotely from the listening position, including an extensive 8-band parametric EQ, delay offset, bass management options, and preset recall. The EQ system enables precise tuning for different room conditions, allowing low-frequency energy to be controlled in problematic spaces or high frequencies to be shaped to minimise desk and surface reflections. These EQ controls are also accessible directly from the rear panel of the speaker.
For midrange and high-frequency reproduction, the Antelope Atlas i8 Studio Monitor employs a coaxial driver arrangement, positioning the midrange driver and tweeter on a shared axis. This creates a single point source for improved phase coherence and consistent imaging, allowing the monitor to be positioned horizontally or vertically without introducing comb filtering or response irregularities in the upper frequency range. This flexibility makes the speaker suitable for a wide range of studio layouts and immersive audio configurations.
Clocking accuracy is another defining element of the Antelope Atlas i8 Studio Monitor. The system incorporates Antelope Audio’s 64-bit Acoustically Focused Clocking technology, derived directly from the company’s high-end master clocks and interfaces. This proprietary clocking architecture enhances the performance of the internal AD and DA conversion stages, maintaining the same professional standards used in many established studios worldwide.
Amplification within the Antelope Atlas i8 Studio Monitor is handled by three custom-designed Class-D amplifiers, engineered specifically for this system. These amplifiers provide high output capability with very low harmonic distortion and noise floor, driving the dual 8-inch woofers, midrange, and high-frequency drivers with clean power to support both dynamic range and sustained high SPL operation. A colour display and rotary encoder on the rear panel provide quick access to core settings such as volume, routing, EQ, bass modes, and preset recall without relying solely on software control.
Connectivity on the Antelope Atlas i8 Studio Monitor includes both analogue and digital options. Balanced analogue inputs are provided on XLR and TRS connectors, while AES and EBU digital input and output enable direct digital monitoring paths. This allows users to bypass interface conversion stages and take full advantage of Antelope Audio’s internal conversion and clocking technology, as well as enabling simple daisy-chaining of monitors. For installation flexibility, the Antelope Atlas i8 Studio Monitor supports optional VESA 100 x 200 mm mounting hardware, making wall or ceiling mounting straightforward for surround sound and immersive formats such as Dolby Atmos setups.
