The Audix A127 is a reference-grade omnidirectional condenser microphone designed to capture the most accurate and purest form of acoustic instruments and sound sources. Built around a low-noise Type 1 metal film capsule and precision-machined electro-mechanical components, the A127 delivers unmatched performance for professional studio recording, live broadcast, film, and sound design applications.
The Audix A127 utilises a pre-polarised half-inch Type 1 metal film capsule that is IEC 61094-4 compliant. This capsule design features a precision-tuned 3-micron metal diaphragm, which provides exceptionally accurate and stable response along with excellent transient response. The half-inch diaphragm size is noted as the standard for acoustic measurement, offering consistent and reliable performance in demanding environments.
The internal circuitry is transformerless and low-noise, designed and built to exacting specifications. It is coupled to the capsule by a series of active driven shields, which protect the microphone from external interference and capacitance coupling. The electronic circuit is designed and manufactured by Audix in Wilsonville, Oregon.
The physical construction includes a corrosion-resistant housing and a gold-plated shield, with precision-machined Teflon and brass components. The microphone is finished in brass with a black exterior. It is powered by 48 V phantom power and features a 3-pin XLR male connector.
The Audix A127 is suitable for professional studio recording, live broadcast, sound design, field recording, ambient room miking, and acoustic measurement. Its omnidirectional polar pattern makes it effective for spot miking, mid-field, and far-field applications, as well as for stereo miking techniques in orchestral and ensemble recordings.
