Elysia Channex Studiois a class-A recall channel strip designed for recording, sessions and mixing, delivering a fully mix-ready analogue signal path from the very first take. The mission behind the Elysia Channex Studio is to ensure the highest possible audio quality already at the recording stage, allowing mixing to become faster, simpler and more intuitive. By providing a finished, mix-ready signal at the source, the Elysia Channex Studio acts as a complete high-end recording front-end for modern studios.
It combines a high-quality microphone preamplifier, a fully analogue dynamic equaliser, a streamlined compressor and a zero-latency monitoring section within a single unit. The signal path remains truly analogue throughout, while full recall capability on both the hardware and a dedicated DAW plugin represents a new generation of elysia hardware integration.
At the front of the signal chain is a newly developed DC-coupled class-A microphone preamplifier offering up to 65 dB of gain, suitable for virtually any microphone. Accurate level control is provided by elysia Shell Precision Metering, ensuring correct gain staging at all times. An adjustable high-pass filter allows unwanted low frequencies to be removed early, while polarity can be inverted via a long button press. Integrated +48 V phantom power supports condenser microphones, a front-panel High-Z input accommodates instruments, and a rear XLR/TRS combo socket provides a dedicated line-level input.
Signal shaping continues with a four-band analogue dynamic equaliser comprising a low band, two switchable mid bands and a high band. Frequency and gain are controlled using six elysia Shell Controllers, with adjustable Q for every band and optional shelving filters on the low and high sections. A defining feature is the ability to operate each band dynamically, allowing frequency-selective compression or expansion directly in the analogue domain. An intelligent gain function ensures the dynamic response remains consistent regardless of input level, while Shell Precision Metering clearly displays both EQ activity and dynamic intensity.
Dynamic control is handled by an intuitive compressor designed specifically to simplify recording workflows. Threshold, make-up gain and a single timing control for attack and release provide fast, musical results without complex parameter interaction. Gain reduction is clearly displayed via the Shell metering system, and the compressor inherits advanced features from the wider elysia range, including a gain reduction limiter that preserves dynamics by preventing excessive compression on louder signal peaks.
For tonal character, the Flavor section introduces selectable analogue colouration. Five independent colouring options can be chosen, blended together and adjusted individually, each offering multiple intensity levels from subtle enhancement to strong character. The Flavor section enables both vintage warmth and modern tonal shaping and can be bypassed instantly for direct comparison.
The Elysia Channex Studio is the first elysia device to feature full recall functionality. Up to 23 presets can be stored directly on the hardware for standalone operation, while a dedicated DAW plugin allows presets to be saved within sessions, renamed, reordered and exchanged. Full automation support enables complex workflows, and all settings are retained when the unit is powered down, maintaining the expected behaviour of an analogue device.
Monitoring is handled by an integrated zero-latency monitoring section designed for professional recording environments. Three high-quality headphone amplifiers support independent mixes for the producer, artist and control room monitoring. Playback from the DAW, the processed input signal and an internal reverb can be blended individually for each mix using the Shell Controllers. Two front-panel 6.3 mm headphone outputs feature impedance detection for optimal level matching. A rear talkback microphone input with dedicated preamplifier supports studio communication, activated via a front-panel switch or footswitch, while a mute macro allows instant switching between recording and playback monitoring states.
