The Ex Machina Ganymede is the first dedicated nearfield studio monitor from Ex Machina Soundworks, developed using the same core technology, engineering philosophy, and system level approach as the larger Pulsar and Quasar models. Ex Machina Ganymede is designed to deliver the same standard of accuracy, detail, imaging precision, and timing coherence as its larger siblings, but within a more compact enclosure suited to nearfield monitoring environments. While offering slightly reduced low frequency extension and maximum output capability, Ex Machina Ganymede maintains the same focus on truthful reproduction and reliable translation.
Low frequency performance is handled by a custom SEAS Titan Series subwoofer developed specifically for this design. Despite its compact size, the driver uses a low distortion, long stroke motor system combined with a rigid aluminium diaphragm to deliver exceptional bass extension and output relative to its dimensions. This allows Ex Machina Ganymede to provide a solid and controlled low end that supports critical monitoring without exaggeration.
Midrange and high frequency reproduction is provided by a newly developed compact coaxial midrange and tweeter assembly. The diaphragms employ Composite Sound Metamodal TeXtreme carbon fibre materials, combining ultra-light weight with extreme stiffness and optimised fibre geometries to actively suppress resonances. A mathematically optimised midrange waveguide, underhung surround design, and precisely aligned point source acoustic centre deliver smooth off-axis behaviour and stable imaging across the listening area. The coaxial driver is powered by an FEA optimised, very low distortion ferrite motor system incorporating a copper shorting sleeve to achieve ultra low inductance and improved linearity.
The electronics platform mirrors that of the larger Ex Machina models. Conversion is based on flagship AKM Velvet Sound AK4493 and AK5572 devices, chosen to leave no sonic footprint on the signal path. Amplification is provided by Hypex Ncore modules, delivering clean, efficient power with extremely low distortion. System control and processing are handled by fifth generation SHARC+ DSP hardware, providing the computational performance required for high precision processing.
The Ex Machina Ganymede is housed in a sealed Valchromat cabinet that is stiff, dense, and well damped. This sealed enclosure design eliminates port noise and avoids the group delay associated with ported systems, improving transient accuracy and time domain performance. Final system performance is achieved using proprietary in house DSP calibration code that completely flattens frequency response while also optimising phase and impulse behaviour, resulting in a compact nearfield monitor with exceptional coherence and clarity.
