Ferrofish A32pro AD/DA Converter Details

The Ferrofish A32pro Converter Multimode represents the next generation of Ferrofish’s renowned multichannel converter range, built on a new modular hardware platform that combines analogue and digital interfaces with advanced flexibility and reliability. Designed to handle a wide variety of studio, live, and broadcast applications, the Ferrofish A32pro provides 32 balanced analogue inputs and 32 balanced analogue outputs, supported up to 192 kHz, alongside both ADAT and MADI connectivity. Housed in a compact 1U rack enclosure, it delivers vast routing possibilities and uncompromising audio performance.

Equipped with the latest ESS converters, a temperature-compensated internal clock, and a jitter reduction PLL system, the Ferrofish A32pro ensures pristine, transparent audio quality across all 64 analogue channels. Analogue I/O is provided via eight D-Sub connectors, supporting studio levels up to +20 dBu, individually adjustable in 1 dB steps. Its digital interfaces include four pairs of ADAT ports and dual SFP slots for MADI, allowing flexible single, redundant, or multimode/coaxial configurations with full 64-channel support. Redundancy extends beyond MADI, with dual power supply connections and active monitoring of all interfaces, providing automatic failover and error messaging via the TFT displays or GPO outputs.

Operation is intuitive thanks to four high-resolution multitouch TFT screens, which provide detailed level metering for all 64 I/O channels, as well as real-time status of digital interfaces, clocking, GPIO, and presets. The graphical interface, combined with context-sensitive help, makes configuration straightforward. Control can also be achieved remotely via USB, MIDI, MIDI-over-MADI, GPI, or Ferrofish’s RemoteFish software for Mac and PC.

For monitoring, the Ferrofish A32pro includes two high-quality headphone outputs with independent DAC paths, capable of monitoring any input or output channel. Features such as M/S decoder mode and balanced headphone operation extend its versatility for high-end monitoring tasks. The device also provides DSP plugin expandability through dual DSP stick slots, future-proofing the platform for advanced multichannel audio processing.

With its combination of 384-channel routing capacity, comprehensive redundancy, extensive format conversion, and fanless 1U design, the Ferrofish A32pro Converter Multimode is a compact yet powerful multitool for managing modern audio systems.
