The HHB CDR-882 Professional Dual Drive CD Recorder was introduced in 2008 as a purpose-built solution for professional CD recording, duplication, and logging applications. Designed from the ground up for uncompromised performance, the HHB CDR-882 integrates dual independent CD recording drives within a robust 2U rackmount chassis, enabling extended recording, redundancy, and high-speed duplication in a single unit.
The HHB CDR-882 Professional Dual Drive CD Recorder incorporates DiscSpan technology, allowing continuous recording beyond the standard 80-minute CD limit by automatically spanning audio across multiple discs. Track IDs are written at transition points, including user-definable fade in and fade out regions, ensuring seamless playback and precise alignment when reconstructing recordings in a DAW. This capability is particularly suited to long-form recording such as live events, broadcast logging, and installations requiring uninterrupted capture.
Alongside DiscSpan, the HHB CDR-882 Professional Dual Drive CD Recorder features DualBurn mode, which records two identical discs simultaneously. This provides immediate redundancy or client copies, while also supporting duplication workflows. Multiple units can be linked together, allowing up to four recorders to operate in tandem, delivering extended recording durations across multiple drives.
The HHB CDR-882 Professional Dual Drive CD Recorder employs full 24-bit A/D and D/A conversion, with internal dithering to the 16-bit CD format. A quartz crystal-derived internal clock ensures stable digital performance, while audiophile-grade analogue circuitry supports accurate signal handling. The unit also includes an internal sample-rate converter, accepting digital inputs from 32kHz to 96kHz and converting to the fixed 44.1kHz CD standard.
Connectivity on the HHB CDR-882 Professional Dual Drive CD Recorder is comprehensive, including balanced XLR analogue inputs and outputs, unbalanced RCA connections, AES/EBU digital I/O, and both coaxial and optical S/PDIF. Additional professional integration features include word clock input, RS232 control, infra-red remote operation, and a parallel control interface. The inclusion of CD-Text support allows identification and organisation of multi-disc recordings.
The HHB CDR-882 Professional Dual Drive CD Recorder is engineered for reliability, with heavy-duty construction and IDE CD-R drives mounted within a steel chassis to minimise vibration and ensure stable operation even in demanding environments such as live sound and broadcast facilities.
