At the core of iConnectivity PlayAUDIO1U is iConnectivity’s multi-computer redundancy system, allowing two connected computers to run simultaneously. The unit continuously monitors incoming audio and MIDI data and can automatically switch between computers the moment a fault is detected, with transitions fast enough to be completely inaudible. This ensures uninterrupted performances even in the event of software crashes or computer failure.
iConnectivity PlayAUDIO1U introduces an additional layer of protection by actively monitoring audio streams passing through the unit. If corrupted audio, excessive noise, or other anomalies are detected, the system can instantly mute the main outputs and present diagnostic information on the front-panel display. This protects PA systems, monitors, and audiences from unwanted audio issues during a live show.
The front-panel OLED display acts as a real-time system assistant, providing immediate visibility of audio levels, MIDI activity, active computer status, and overall system health. Setup and troubleshooting are streamlined through capacitive touch controls and rotary encoders, allowing full operation without the need for connected software when required.
Built for touring, iConnectivity PlayAUDIO1U features a rugged 1U rackmount chassis with twelve panel-reinforced balanced XLR outputs that connect directly to stage boxes or snakes. The reinforced connectors are mechanically supported by the chassis to withstand repeated setup and teardown. Integrated protection against accidental +48V phantom power on outputs adds an additional safeguard when interfacing directly with consoles.
MIDI connectivity is a defining strength of iConnectivity PlayAUDIO1U. The unit supports traditional 5-pin DIN MIDI, USB MIDI via an onboard host port, MIDI over Ethernet using RTP MIDI, and MIDI over connected computers. Advanced MIDI processing allows flexible routing, filtering, program change management, automatic all-notes-off protection during computer failure, and MIDI learn functionality for hands-on control.
Power is handled internally via a universal switching power supply with an industry-standard IEC connector, supporting worldwide operation from 100V to 240V at 50–60Hz with no external adapters required.
