At the heart of iConnectivity PlayAUDIO2U is iConnectivity’s legendary multi-computer redundancy, allowing two connected performance computers to run simultaneously. The system continuously monitors audio and MIDI data streams and can automatically and seamlessly switch between computers at the first sign of failure, with transitions fast enough to remain completely inaudible. This ensures uninterrupted playback of tracks, virtual instruments, and live-processed sources during performance.
iConnectivity PlayAUDIO2U expands live rig flexibility by adding high-quality analogue inputs alongside its extensive output architecture. Four XLR and 6.35 mm TRS combo inputs are equipped with ultra-low noise microphone preamps and switchable 48V phantom power, delivering silence when idle and wide dynamic range when active. These inputs are optimised for capturing vocals and instruments cleanly and reliably on stage, while routing audio simultaneously to redundant computers for secure processing.
On the output side, iConnectivity PlayAUDIO2U provides twenty-four balanced panel-reinforced XLR outputs, ready to connect directly to stage boxes, looms, or console inputs. Each connector is mechanically reinforced by the chassis to withstand repeated setup and teardown, making the system ideally suited to touring environments. Integrated resistance to accidental +48V phantom power on outputs adds further protection when interfacing directly with live sound consoles.
The large front-panel OLED display functions as a live performance command centre, delivering at-a-glance visibility of audio levels, MIDI traffic, active computer status, and system health. Instant alerts warn operators of computer failures or other issues, while front-panel buttons and rotary encoders provide fast, software-free control for essential functions during setup or troubleshooting.
MIDI connectivity is a defining strength of iConnectivity PlayAUDIO2U. Acting as a central MIDI hub, it supports 5-pin DIN MIDI, multiple USB MIDI host ports, MIDI over connected computers, and dual Ethernet ports for RTP MIDI networking across large venues.
