The Lang P.LANE Type 436 is a fully tube-based vari-mu compressor, inspired by the rare modified ALTEC 436C models that helped define the sound of the British Invasion in the 1960s.
Heritage Audio and LANG Electronics have recreated this classic design in a 2U chassis, offering vintage tone with modern reliability. Known for its smooth, flattering compression, the unit preserves high-end clarity while controlling dynamic peaks. Its character is suitable for a wide range of genres including pop, rock, metal, hip-hop and electronic music.
The Lang P.LANE Type 436 includes all the key features of the original designs, from the basic 436C circuit to the advanced “London Mod.” It features six selectable time constant settings with HOLD options, and adds a new “SuperFast” recovery mode to suit today’s production demands.
The Lang P.LANE Type 436’s 2U steel chassis houses three tubes: one NOS 6H5P, one JJ E88CC and one NOS 6AL5. Custom input and output transformers, based on the original designs and wound by Heritage Audio, ensure authentic sonic performance. Both XLR and TRS connections are provided, and a universal internal power supply supports global voltage compatibility.
