Lucid SSG192 Studio Sync Generator

Lucid SSG192
The Lucid SSG192 is a professional 1U studio sync generator released in 2001, offering fifteen internal sample rates, four external sync options, simultaneous Word Clock, Superclock, UltraClock, AES11 and video outputs, and full support for audio and video pull up and pull down rates.

Lucid SSG192 Studio Sync Generator Details

The Lucid SSG192 High Definition Studio Sync Generator was designed as a complete master clock solution for studios moving deeper into multi-device digital audio systems. As sample rates increased and more gear operated independently, maintaining stable synchronisation became essential to avoid audible clicks, pops and high frequency distortion.

The Lucid SSG192 was created to eliminate the cumulative jitter and delay caused by daisy-chained word clock connections by providing a single, precise reference source for all connected equipment. The unit offers fifteen internal sample rates ranging from 32 kHz up to 192 kHz, and it can also lock to four types of external references including word clock, AES11, AES3 and video blackburst.

The Lucid SSG192 provides an extensive set of outputs, enabling studios to simultaneously distribute standard word clock, 256x Superclock, 1024x Lucid UltraClock, AES11 and video sync signals. This makes it adaptable to a wide variety of setups including audio-only environments, hybrid audio-video facilities and film post production workflows.

Lucid SSG192 supports NTSC 59.94, NTSC 60 and PAL/SECAM 50 Hz video formats, and generates all standard pull up and pull down rates required for film and broadcast applications. Two configurable high-speed outputs provide either 256x Superclock for systems such as Pro Tools or 1024x UltraClock for compatibility with Lucid’s high definition audio technologies.

The Lucid SSG192 was aimed at studios needing a robust, flexible clocking hub that could function as a master in modern digital systems while being fully compatible with a wide range of existing equipment including systems from Digidesign, Sonic Solutions, Mackie, Yamaha and TASCAM. It occupies a 1U chassis and was regarded as a forward-looking design intended to meet both present and future synchronisation requirements.
