Lynx Aurora(n) Thunderbolt/USB Audio Interface

Lynx Aurora(n)
The Lynx Aurora(n) is a modular, high-resolution audio interface offering transparent 24-bit/192 kHz AD/DA conversion, ultra-low distortion, and flexible connectivity. With up to 32 channels, advanced clocking, and swappable interface cards, it’s designed for professional studios, mastering, and broadcast environments requiring pristine sound and long-term scalability.

Lynx Aurora(n) Thunderbolt/USB Audio Interface Details

The Lynx Aurora(n) is a high-performance, modular audio interface that marks a complete redesign of the original Lynx Aurora, setting a new standard in transparent conversion. Available in 8, 16, 24 or 32-channel configurations within a sleek 1U rack chassis, the Lynx Aurora(n) is built to adapt to any professional studio environment. It offers extensive modularity with options to add mic preamp modules, ADAT I/O, additional AD/DA converters, or a range of connectivity choices including USB, Thunderbolt, ProTools|HD, and Dante via swappable LSlot interface cards.

At the core of the Lynx Aurora(n) lies mastering-grade 24-bit, 192 kHz A/D and D/A conversion. Each pair of channels is equipped with its own fully shielded analogue signal path and dedicated converter, reducing crosstalk, minimising distortion, and maximising dynamic range. This design, which borrows critical elements from Lynx’s acclaimed Hilo converter, results in significantly enhanced specifications and sonic transparency compared to earlier models.

The unit features the advanced SynchroLock 2 sample clock, which offers extremely fast lock times of around five seconds, exceptional jitter reduction at a ratio of 300,000:1, and precise sample rate accuracy. A professional-grade word clock system is integrated, with one input and three outputs via BNC connectors, allowing tight synchronisation with external digital systems.

Monitoring functionality is another strong point, with two audiophile-grade headphone outputs featuring independent volume controls. These outputs deliver exceptionally low distortion and high output power across a wide range of headphone impedances, making them suitable for both studio-grade and audiophile headphones. Output power includes 68 mW into 600 Ω, 135 mW into 300 Ω, 383 mW into 60 Ω, 212 mW into 32 Ω, and 100 mW into 16 Ω.

The Lynx Aurora(n) has been adopted by elite facilities such as Skywalker Sound, Dolby, NPR, and the Smithsonian Institute, thanks to its unrivalled ability to deliver transparent, artefact-free audio. Professionals have praised its ability to reveal deep, nuanced sonic detail, often describing its stereo image as expansive, holographic, and lifelike.

Designed for longevity and flexibility, the Lynx Aurora(n) allows for easy expansion in increments of eight channels up to a total of 32. Firmware updates regularly add new features, and interface cards can be changed without needing a firmware reinstall, ensuring the system remains up to date with future technological advances. For any high-end studio, mastering house, broadcast facility or production suite, the Lynx Aurora(n) provides a powerful, transparent and scalable solution for audio conversion and monitoring.
