The Mutec MC2 is primarily designed as an AES/EBU distribution amplifier, with added support for AES/EBU ID interfaces to enable seamless conversion between both digital audio interface standards. It utilises the latest PLL and digital conversion technologies to process audio signals compliant with AES3 and AES3 ID, as well as sync signals aligned with AES11 and AES11 ID. All standard sample rates from 32 kHz to 192 kHz are supported, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of professional digital audio systems. The unit accepts one input per interface standard, with the AES/EBU input distributed to six outputs and the AES/EBU ID input distributed to two outputs.
The Mutec MC2 offers multiple operating modes to suit various use cases. Any incoming reference signal is distributed to all outputs simultaneously, with automatic format conversion between AES/EBU and AES/EBU ID as required. When receiving a digital audio signal via AES3, the Mutec MC2 can convert it in real time into an AES11-format sync signal, which is then distributed across all outputs. If needed, the first output of the selected interface can be configured to deliver the original, unaltered AES3 signal, allowing it to be used elsewhere in the system.
To accommodate long cable runs, the output voltage of the AES/EBU ID interface can be switched from the standard 1V to 3V. This added flexibility makes the Mutec MC2 suitable for use in larger installations and demanding environments.
Installation is straightforward, with optional rack adapters available for mounting the unit in a standard 19-inch rack. All settings can be configured easily via the front panel using a clear and intuitive interface. The Mutec MC2 is built in a durable aluminium enclosure and complies with CE, UL and FCC Part 15 standards, making it a robust and reliable choice for professional audio applications.
