The Neve 88R LBEQ delivers genuine 88RS equalisation in a compact, high-performance 500 series module. Designed around the acclaimed EQ circuitry of Neve’s flagship 88RS console, the Neve 88R LBEQ brings the same musical precision, transparency, and control into a single-slot format suited to modern studio workflows.
At the core of the Neve 88R LBEQ is a powerful four-band fully parametric equaliser, with up to ±20 dB of gain available on every band. This generous gain range provides substantial headroom and control, allowing the Neve 88R LBEQ to move effortlessly from subtle tonal refinement to decisive corrective or creative shaping. The design offers greater flexibility than many comparable 500 series equalisers, making it suitable for both tracking and mix duties.
All four EQ bands overlap seamlessly across the frequency spectrum and each band features variable Q control. This architecture allows the Neve 88R LBEQ to perform narrow, surgical adjustments alongside wide, musical curves within the same instance. Engineers can precisely remove problematic resonances while simultaneously enhancing character and tone, maintaining the musical integrity associated with Neve console equalisation.
The low-frequency band is fully sweepable from 33 Hz to 440 Hz and offers ±20 dB of gain. It can be switched between standard or resonant shelving responses, as well as wide or narrow bell curves, making it equally effective for broad low-end enhancement or precise control of bass fundamentals and low-mid energy.
The low-mid band is fully parametric, covering 120 Hz to 2 kHz with ±20 dB of gain and a Q range from 0.3 to 7. This makes it ideal for shaping body and weight in sources such as drums, brass, or guitars, while also allowing tight control over congested or muddy frequencies when required.
The high-mid band provides sweepable frequency, gain, and Q control across a range of 0.8 kHz to 9 kHz, with ±20 dB of gain and a Q range from 0.3 to 7. This band excels at refining presence and definition, making it particularly effective on vocals, guitars, and other sources that benefit from clarity and focus in the upper midrange.
The high-frequency band spans 1.5 kHz to 18 kHz and delivers ±20 dB of gain. With switchable standard or resonant shelving shapes and wide or narrow bell options, it allows controlled enhancement or gentle attenuation of high-frequency detail. This makes it well suited for adding air to overheads, enhancing detail on acoustic instruments, or managing brightness on full programme material.
A dedicated EQ IN switch provides true bypass operation, allowing the signal to pass unaltered when disengaged. This enables instant and accurate A/B comparison, ensuring confident EQ decisions while preserving the integrity of the original source.
