The Phoenix Audio Nicerizer 16 Mk2 is a fully featured 16-channel Class A analogue summing mixer designed to bridge the gap between digital precision and analogue character. Built for discerning engineers who want more than what in-the-box mixing can offer, the Nicerizer enhances depth, punch and stereo detail by summing DAW stems through its finely tuned discrete circuitry.
Unlike simple summing amplifiers, the Phoenix Audio Nicerizer 16 Mk2 is a true stereo mixer. It brings key functions such as panning and harmonic saturation back into the analogue domain, where they deliver unmatched clarity and performance. Its detented pan pots ensure precise stereo imaging and reliable session recall. Each of the 16 input channels is equipped with a Class A discrete transformerless stage, designed for transparency and speed. For additional tonal weight, each channel includes a +8 dB switch to push the circuitry for rich analogue colour.
The signal path culminates in Phoenix Audio’s custom DB694 output transformers, driven by the proprietary DSOP-2 discrete Class A output amplifier. Designed by David Rees as a modern refinement of vintage Neve output stages, the DSOP-2 delivers a spectrum of tone ranging from ultra-clean to saturated and musical.
A suite of additional features elevates the Phoenix Audio Nicerizer from a high-end summing unit to a versatile mixing hub. The Class A stereo width control allows spatial manipulation of the mix image, from mono through to +25% wider, without compromising bass integrity. A width bypass switch is also included.
Each of the 16 balanced XLR inputs accepts both balanced and unbalanced sources with no signal loss. Unbalanced 1⁄4″ TRS insert points on the stereo mix bus allow for outboard processors to be strapped across the final mix, making it suitable for both mixing and mastering workflows. Just before the output transformers, an auxiliary output is tapped and given its own front-panel level control, perfect for driving monitor amps or bypassing the transformer stage entirely.
The Phoenix Audio Nicerizer 16 Mk2 also includes a 2-track return, enabling real-time monitoring of external sources through the built-in headphone amplifier. A Monitor Select Switch allows stereo monitoring of individual input channel pairs, the 2T return, the auxiliary output, or the main mix, with a Toggle function offering mono or stereo listening. Paired with a front-panel LED meter array, these controls provide complete visual and audible monitoring of your signal path.
Hand-built with PTFE silver-plated military-grade internal wiring, the Phoenix Audio Nicerizer 16 Mk2 is housed in a 2U 19″ rackmount chassis. It can be stacked and linked to expand your summing capabilities while maintaining Class A performance throughout.
