The PMC6-2 is a powerful three-way active monitor that combines two custom-designed 6-inch ultra-long-throw bass drivers with PMC’s radically engineered PMC55 2-inch soft-dome mid-range unit and a precision-built one-inch soft-dome tweeter. The PMC55 mid-range driver features PMC’s distinctive N-compass waveguide, which enhances dispersion and mid-range projection. Working in combination with the high-performance tweeter, this design delivers an exceptionally wide and stable stereo image alongside a smooth, natural in-room response that remains consistent across the listening area.
Low-frequency performance is a defining strength of the PMC6-2. The use of ATL™ bass-loading technology results in an exceptional size-to-performance ratio, delivering deep, controlled low-frequency extension with consistent tonal balance at all listening levels. Laminair™ airflow technology, visible through the monitor’s hexagonal vent ducts, further reduces air turbulence and colouration while improving efficiency, dynamics, and overall clarity.
Each bass driver is powered by its own high-power Class-D amplifier, ensuring precise control and authority, while the entire system is integrated using highly accurate, sophisticated DSP-based crossovers. This DSP platform also manages system protection and optimisation, ensuring the PMC6-2 maintains its performance and reliability under demanding professional conditions. Configuration and calibration can be carried out via rear-panel controls or using PMC’s browser-based SoundAlign™ software, which provides comprehensive boundary and EQ options for both single monitors and grouped systems.
For facilities requiring full-range performance, the PMC6-2 offers a straightforward upgrade path to an XBD system. By adding a PMC8.2 SUB and selecting XBD mode, the system is perfectly integrated, extending low-frequency response down to 25Hz while increasing headroom and maintaining seamless tonal integration. A ceiling-mount yoke option also allows the PMC6-2 to be suspended for use in multi-channel and immersive audio installations.
