PMC8-2 Near/Midfield Studio Monitor

PMC8-2 delivers near main-monitor performance in a three-way active design, combining ATL™ bass loading, powerful amplification, and seamless system integration for high-end reference monitoring.

PMC8-2 Near/Midfield Studio Monitor Details

PMC8-2 is a three-way active studio monitor designed to deliver uncompromising critical reference monitoring for the most demanding professional applications. With super-consistent dispersion and tonal balance, the PMC8-2 integrates seamlessly with smaller PMC loudspeakers, making it ideally suited to larger multi-channel and immersive audio systems.

The PMC8-2 shares its core technology platform with the PMC6-2, employing twin bass drivers alongside the same PMC55 mid-range driver, DSP architecture, and four-channel 400W Class-D amplification system. This ensures a coherent sonic signature across the range while providing the scale, depth, and authority expected from a higher-capacity monitoring system. Configuration can be carried out directly from the rear panel or via PMC’s browser-based SoundAlign™ software using a computer or tablet, allowing precise calibration for both single monitors and complex multi-speaker installations.

At the heart of the PMC8-2’s performance is its precisely tuned ATL™ cabinet design, working in combination with hexagonal Laminair™ airflow vents. This approach delivers smooth, consistent low-frequency performance extending down to 25Hz, alongside a revealing and articulate mid-range and a wide, stable soundstage. The result is monitoring performance that approaches PMC’s Main reference systems, while retaining the flexibility and footprint required for control rooms and immersive environments.

As with the rest of the PMC range, the PMC8-2 is engineered to provide exceptional definition, fidelity, dynamics, and bass accuracy. This allows mix decisions to be made quickly and with complete confidence, without the onset of listening fatigue even during extended sessions. For users requiring additional low-frequency headroom, PMC8-2 monitors can be upgraded by adding a PMC8-2 SUB to create an XBD system, increasing bass headroom by up to 6dB while maintaining seamless integration.

Dedicated short and tall floor stands are available for both the PMC8-2 and PMC8-2 XBD configurations, positioning the monitors on the correct listening axis for optimal performance in a wide range of studio layouts.
