PMC8 SUB is a true low-frequency reference monitor designed to extend the bass performance of professional monitoring systems with PMC’s signature ultra-clean and ultra-fast low end. It adds depth, scale, and authority to a wide range of setups while maintaining the speed and accuracy required for critical decision-making.
The PMC8 SUB can be deployed as a compact stand-alone subwoofer within conventional stereo or multichannel systems, or used as an XBD cabinet to create a full-range PMC6 XBD midfield monitoring system. When operating in XBD mode, the dedicated DSP setting precisely marries the subwoofer with the main loudspeakers, forming a coherent, integrated full-range system with extended low-frequency performance. This flexibility also makes the PMC8 SUB ideally suited to immersive and multi-channel environments, where seamless low-frequency integration is essential.
Central to the PMC8 SUB’s performance is PMC’s proprietary ATL™ bass-loading technology. Unlike conventional ported designs, ATL™ provides a gentler low-order low-frequency roll-off, allowing smoother integration between subwoofer, surround, and height channels. This results in more natural bass reproduction with improved timing, clarity, and consistency across complex monitoring systems.
The PMC8 SUB features a single custom-designed eight-inch long-throw bass driver, powered by a 300W Class-D amplifier. Control is handled by the same powerful DSP engine used across PMC’s active monitoring range. DSP facilities include comprehensive room boundary equalisation, parametric EQ, time delay, phase inversion, and the dedicated XBD configuration mode. All settings can be accessed via the rear-panel controls or through PMC’s browser-based SoundAlign™ software, allowing precise calibration for single units or grouped systems.
