The Sebatron Switchblade is a professional stereo equaliser and diode compressor combined in one versatile unit. Built with discrete Class A circuitry running on high-voltage rails, it delivers exceptional headroom and wide frequency response. The design incorporates a relay-driven global bypass, with each section independently bypassable, ensuring a clean signal path when disengaged.
The equaliser section provides four broad bands of tonal shaping: a high shelf (8–16 kHz), high-mid band (1–8 kHz), low-mid band (80–500 Hz), and low shelf (40–120 Hz). These bands interact musically, allowing engineers to add clarity, sparkle, warmth, or depth, while a variable high-pass filter eliminates unwanted subsonic frequencies.
The diode compressor section offers fully variable ratio, attack, and release, with release times grouped into three overlapping ranges: normal, tight, and swim. Detection can be switched pre- or post-EQ, and a variable high-pass sidechain filter prevents excessive low-end compression. A compressor mix control enables parallel compression by blending dry and compressed signals.
For monitoring, the Sebatron Switchblade features two 20-segment blue LED bargraphs that can be switched between internal signal, gain reduction, output, or a split mode displaying gain reduction on the left and output on the right. This makes gain staging and dynamic control highly visual and accurate.
