The TASCAM CD-RW5000 is a professional CD recorder designed to create standard audio CDs using widely available CD-R and CD-RW media. It enables users to produce fully compliant audio discs while also supporting the flexibility of rewritable formats, allowing unwanted takes or tracks to be erased and re-recorded. Entire discs can also be reused, making it suitable for iterative recording workflows. Tracks can be recorded individually or grouped together, with the option to finalise the disc so that it can be played back on standard audio CD players.
The TASCAM CD-RW5000 supports both professional and consumer signal integration, offering balanced +4 dBu inputs and outputs alongside unbalanced −10 dBV connections. Output level trimmers are provided on the balanced outputs, allowing precise level matching within studio environments. The unit also includes a comprehensive range of digital connectivity, supporting AES/EBU professional format and S/PDIF consumer format. Digital connections are available in both coaxial and optical formats for inputs and outputs, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of digital audio equipment.
A built-in sampling frequency converter allows the TASCAM CD-RW5000 to accept digital audio sources that do not operate at the standard CD sampling frequency of 44.1 kHz. Sources recorded at 48 kHz or 32 kHz can be transferred digitally and converted internally for CD recording. When recording from digital sources, the unit can read not only audio data but also track start information, enabling automatic track indexing during transfers from sources such as DAT, reducing the need for manual intervention.
The TASCAM CD-RW5000 also includes a wired remote control, allowing operation from a distance within a studio or project environment.
