The TASCAM IF-88AE is an interface unit that enables you to transfer audio between the TASCAM DA-88 digital multitrack recorder and any device with AES/EBU or SPDIF connectivity.
The TASCAM IF-88AE is an interface unit that enables you to transfer audio between the TASCAM DA-88 digital multitrack recorder and any device with AES/EBU or SPDIF connectivity. It features a power switch to turn the unit on and a format select switch that converts between SPDIF and TDIF or between AES/EBU and TDIF (TDIF being TEAC’s Digital Interface Format).
An emphasis indicator on the TASCAM IF-88AE lights during tape playback to show when high-emphasis was applied at the time of recording. Assign switches let you route signals from SPDIF or AES/EBU devices to TASCAM DA-88 tracks (or vice versa) – for best results, avoid operating the format select or assign switches during record or playback to prevent clicks.
Digital I/O comprises XLR connectors (channels 1–8) for AES/EBU, with inputs accepting both professional and consumer-level data and outputs transmitting professional-only format, plus RCA jacks for SPDIF. A TDIF-1 connector ties to the TASCAM DA-88’s TDIF-1 port via the supplied PW-88D cable, and a word sync out jack connects to the TASCAM DA-88’s word sync in when used as a slave.
