The TK Audio TEQ is an extended mastering and mix bus equaliser designed for precise tonal shaping with full Mid/Side capability. Built around the classic Baxandall EQ topology from the 1950s, the TK Audio TEQ delivers the smooth, natural response that mastering engineers value, while extending the concept with higher control resolution, expanded frequency options, and modern routing flexibility suitable for contemporary mixing and mastering workflows.
At its core, the TK Audio TEQ is a dual-band equaliser, with each band offering ten carefully selected frequencies. The low band covers 30Hz to 720Hz, while the high band spans 1kHz to 24kHz, allowing broad tonal sculpting as well as more focused corrective work. Each band can be independently switched between peak and shelving operation, maintaining a gentle Q of 0.5 for musical, non-invasive adjustments that preserve mix integrity.
The cut and boost controls are fully stepped and offer exceptionally fine resolution. Adjustments begin in 0.25dB steps up to 1dB, continue in 0.5dB steps up to 4dB, and can be extended further using the EX switch, which increases the available range to ±8dB. This combination of precision and extended range allows the TK Audio TEQ to move seamlessly from subtle mastering tweaks to more assertive tonal shaping when required.
To complement the two main EQ bands, the TK Audio TEQ includes both high-pass and low-pass filters, each offering six selectable frequencies. The high-pass filter is designed to remove unwanted low-end rumble, mud, and bass build-up, while the low-pass filter helps tame harshness and smooth the top end. Both filters are optimised for musical results and use a single control for both channels to ensure consistent stereo behaviour.
A fully integrated Mid/Side function allows independent processing of the mid and side components of a stereo signal, making the TK Audio TEQ especially powerful for mix bus and mastering applications. This enables precise control over centre content such as vocals and bass, while independently shaping the stereo width and ambience. A dedicated cue function allows monitoring of left and right channels or mid and side channels when M/S mode is active, providing clear insight into how processing affects each component of the signal.
All rotary controls on the TK Audio TEQ are stepped for repeatability and recall, while gold-contact audio switches ensure reliable signal integrity over time. Frequency selection for both high and low bands is handled by relays that combine capacitors for the selected frequency, maintaining consistent performance and accuracy. The audio path avoids electrolytic capacitors entirely and is designed with an extra-wide bandwidth to preserve detail, transient accuracy, and phase coherence.
