In the early days, AMS (Advanced Music Systems) focused on developing high-quality digital signal processors, including the AMS RMX16, which was one of the first digital reverb units to be widely adopted by musicians and producers. The AMS RMX 16 became highly popular due to its natural-sounding reverb algorithms and its intuitive user interface, which allowed users to quickly and easily create a wide range of reverb effects.

AMS DM2-20 Tape Phase Simulator

The AMS DM2-20 tape phase simulator is the result of extensive research into the requirements and needs of the recording industry, for accurate simulation of tape phasing. Unlike other units of this kind, which solely mix the delayed signal with the original, the DM2-20 uses two independent delay lines to allow true ‘over the top‘ tape phase simulation.

AMS DMX15R Digital Reverb

The AMS DMX15R was designed as a digital reverb add-on for the AMS DMX 15-80S digital delay system. However, it is uncertain if this product was ever mass-produced, and if it was, it remains extremely rare. It is more likely that the AMS DMX15R was eventually developed into a standalone digital reverb unit (AMS RMX 16) that did not depend on the AMS DMX 15-80S to operate.

AMS/Neve AMS RMX16 Digital Reverb

What do you do when an old reverb is still so popular after nearly 40 years? You update it and release it once again. The AMS RMX16 was the world’s first microprocessor-controlled, full-bandwidth digital reverberator and characterised an enormous number of seminal recordings from the 1980s onwards. Its designer’s love for music and experience in the aerospace industry meant it was way ahead of its time on release.
