Mr Mister are the classic 80s band, having delivered one of the period’s most iconic tracks in Kyrie from the album Welcome to the real world. The song is a brilliant example of of pop/rock form the period and features extraordinary vocals from Richard Page.
The recording features all the usual suspects with LA-2A’s and LA-3A’s used throughout, but the signature sound of the track comes by way of the then relatively new, and all conquering AMS delays and reverbs. The AMS RMX16 reverb and AMS DMX15-80 delay were dominating in studios the world over during this period, and are still in use today. It is claimed that a lot of room sound was used on this recording and that the use of the AMS reverb was minimal, I would say there is liberal use of both.
The songs was extremely well mixed by Mick Guzauski, the man behind the Daft Punk album Random Access Memories, itself a truly classic album.
