The Mercury Bruder is a custom shop creation that unites two of Mercury Recording Equipment’s finest microphone amplifiers in one robust 3U chassis. Combining a single channel of the M72s and a single channel of the M76m, this unique dual-preamp design offers engineers a versatile, high-quality front end for a wide range of studio applications.
The left channel of the Mercury Bruder features the M72s preamp, renowned for its bold, vintage-inspired sound. Modelled after the revered V72 modules, the M72s delivers thick low end, forward midrange presence, and a smooth, airy top. With 58dB of gain and a transformer-balanced, all-tube signal path, the M72s excels on vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, bass, drums, and room or overhead microphones. It brings a sense of musical saturation and weight that enhances the source without compromising clarity.
On the right channel, the Mercury Bruder includes the Mercury M76m, a microphone amplifier designed for tonal precision and sonic openness. Offering up to 72dB of gain, the M76m incorporates selectable high or low input impedance, making it especially well-suited to ribbon microphones. Its tonal profile is more evenly balanced than the M72s, with a transparent low and midrange and a sparkling high end. This channel is ideal for vocals, guitars, and room ambience, allowing detailed control over how the amplifier shapes the sound.
Together, the M72s and M76m in the Mercury Bruder form a powerful and flexible recording toolset. Whether you are after vintage colour or pristine openness, the Mercury Bruder delivers the best of both worlds, in a hand-built, all-tube, transformer-balanced package, designed and assembled in the USA to Mercury’s uncompromising standards.
