Each channel of the Mercury M72s is transformer-balanced and uses hand-wired, all-tube circuitry built to match the original V72s as closely as possible. However, Mercury has added modern conveniences without compromising the tonal legacy. Key updates include a variable gain control rather than the fixed gain of the original, allowing users to select gain from 28dB to 58dB in 3dB increments, making the M72s more versatile for today’s studio requirements.
