The Neumann KH 80 DSP is an ultra-compact, DSP-controlled two-way active nearfield monitor that combines precision, flexibility, and portability in a small yet powerful package. Designed to deliver reference-quality performance in any acoustic environment, the Neumann KH 80 DSP embodies Neumann’s philosophy of absolute accuracy, linearity, and sonic neutrality. Despite its size, the Neumann KH 80 DSP provides the clarity, transient detail, and low distortion expected from a full-scale studio monitor system.
At its core, the Neumann KH 80 DSP features a 4-inch (100mm) long-throw composite sandwich-cone woofer with Neumann’s Extremely Linear Force Factor™ (ELFF™) technology for tight, distortion-free bass, paired with a 1-inch (25mm) alloy fabric dome tweeter for smooth, precise high frequencies. Both drivers are optimised using advanced in-house modelling to minimise harmonic and intermodulation distortion.
The tweeter is coupled to Neumann’s Mathematically Modelled Dispersion™ (MMD™) waveguide, which ensures wide horizontal coverage and narrow vertical dispersion, maintaining a stable stereo image while reducing reflections from desks or mixing consoles.
The built-in DSP engine delivers linear-phase crossovers, highly accurate frequency response, and room-adaptive calibration when used with Neumann’s MA 1 Automatic Monitor Alignment system. This enables precise alignment of stereo or multichannel setups, correcting both frequency and phase response for consistent monitoring in any environment. Acoustical control switches on the rear panel allow quick manual adjustments for different placements, such as free-standing or on a desk.
Amplification is handled by efficient Class D amplifiers providing 120 watts to the woofer and 70 watts to the tweeter. Together with an optimised bass reflex system, they produce impressive low-end performance and high SPL capability for the monitor’s compact size. A universal switch-mode power supply ensures stable operation across global voltages, and an intelligent standby function reduces power consumption when idle.
Housed in a rugged polycarbonate composite cabinet with a one-piece front baffle to minimise diffraction, the KH 80 DSP offers durability and acoustic precision in equal measure. The monitor features analogue input via XLR or 6.3mm TRS connections and integrates seamlessly with Neumann’s Control and MA 1 software via a standard IP network for full DSP configuration.
Compact yet uncompromising, the Neumann KH 80 DSP is ideal for project studios, broadcast environments, mobile production rigs, and professional editing or mixing suites requiring accurate, dependable monitoring in limited spaces.
