The Sebatron Four-Eyes is a professional four-channel VU metering device designed for use in both studio and hi-fi applications. Each of its VU meters is driven by dedicated buffer circuits, ensuring that the audio signal remains unaffected.
The Sebatron Four-Eyes allows flexible monitoring by offering both a fixed reference of +4 dBu = 0 VU and a variable mode, where the 0 VU reference point can be set anywhere between –10 dBu and +10 dBu. This makes it highly adaptable for different environments, whether aligning to professional digital recording levels, semi-pro –10 dBu equipment, or domestic hi-fi setups.
The meter response time is also adjustable, ranging from peak detection to RMS to approximately one second average, providing accurate readings depending on the requirement. This allows engineers to optimise dynamic range, evaluate transient peaks, or judge the average loudness of a mix. Channels are grouped in pairs (1–2 and 3–4) for faster and easier setup, while the auto-linked input design enables one input to drive both meters in a pair for comparative monitoring.
Constructed in a rugged 2U powder-coated mild steel chassis with a 3 mm front panel, the Sebatron Four-Eyes is built for reliability. With an internal power supply switchable between 120 V and 240 V AC, it is suitable for use in any professional or domestic environment.
