The Sebatron VMP-4000e Quad Valve Pre is a four-channel high-voltage Class A microphone preamplifier designed to bring classic analogue tone to digital recording and multitracking. As part of the VMP series, alongside the Sebatron VMP-2000e and Sebatron VMP-2000eVU, it offers the warmth, punch and organic character of properly driven valves while retaining wide bandwidth and excellent transient response. With valve anode voltage at approximately +300VDC, the unit delivers true valve performance rather than starved-tube effects.
Each channel of the Sebatron VMP-4000e provides transformer-balanced microphone inputs for natural, ear-pleasing tone, with all signal gain generated by the 12AT7 valve stage. Direct inputs are also included for bass, guitar, keyboards and other line-level sources. A two-band passive EQ network, combined with variable colour control via the pad switches, allows detailed shaping of the signal and introduces harmonically pleasing textures. These features make the Sebatron VMP-4000e a versatile tool not only for microphone recording but also for adding depth and cohesion when processing stems, sub-mixes, or entire mixes through its valve stages.
The Sebatron VMP-4000e can be driven lightly for near-transparent amplification with subtle valve tone, or pushed into heavier saturation for thick analogue colouration. Its design fills the gap between transparent amplification and strongly charactered preamps, making it equally suited to pristine acoustic recordings or more coloured, aggressive applications.
Hand-built with reliability and serviceability in mind, the Sebatron VMP-4000e uses steel chassis construction, quality hardware, single-sided circuit boards, and only discrete components. By avoiding integrated circuits, Sebatron ensures that the circuit delivers the warmth and harmonic enhancement associated with tape and classic analogue systems.
