The Tascam CG-2000 is the flagship model in Tascam’s CG series, designed for the highest level of reliability and precision required in broadcast and post-production environments. Engineered with dual power supply circuits and redundant video reference and word clock inputs, it ensures continuous operation even during power or signal interruptions.
At its core is a high-precision OCXO (oven-controlled crystal oscillator) with ±0.01 ppm accuracy and ±0.005 ppm/day stability, unaffected by temperature fluctuations. For even greater precision, the Tascam CG-2000 includes a 10MHz input for external GPS or rubidium clock integration. Advanced jitter management using FPGA and PLL circuitry delivers ultra-stable output, while a glitch-free relocking system keeps video and word clock signals in phase during dropouts and recovery, preventing skips and noise.
With 12 word clock outputs, 4 video outputs, and 2 each of AES3/11 and S/PDIF digital outputs, the Tascam CG-2000 supports NTSC, PAL, HD Tri-level video, and word clock rates up to 192 kHz, including 2×Fs, 4×Fs, and 256×Fs for DAW compatibility. Two of the word outputs support super clock outputs for high-resolution systems.
Maintenance is streamlined through a built-in self-calibration function (requiring external GPS oscillator), a comprehensive analyser for signal diagnostics, and a logging system that records system data and outputs CSV files via USB. GPO parallel outputs provide real-time error monitoring, and output levels are fully adjustable to match connected equipment. Rugged design features include independent circuit boards per connector and Amphenol nut-coupling BNC connectors for superior durability.
The Tascam CG-2000 embodies Tascam’s long-standing expertise in professional digital synchronisation, offering unmatched reliability, performance, and precision for mission-critical applications.
