The Yamaha AD824 is a high-performance 8-channel analogue-to-digital converter featuring 24-bit linear conversion and 128-times oversampling, delivering a typical dynamic range of 110 dB. It supports optional mini YGDAI (Yamaha General Digital Audio Interface) cards, providing compatibility with a wide range of digital output formats, including AES/EBU, ADAT, and TASCAM TDIF-1.
Each analogue input of the Yamaha AD824 is electronically balanced via XLR connectors and includes high-quality microphone preamps with individually switchable 48V phantom power and rotary gain controls. Inputs accept both microphone and line-level signals. For integration with external analogue equipment, each channel offers electronically balanced insert points via dual 6.35mm TRS jacks.
The Yamaha AD824 can be remotely controlled via a Yamaha DME32, personal computer, or other compatible device using a dedicated control protocol through the COM PC/RS422 port. Multiple AD824 units can also be linked in a chain configuration using both the COM PC/RS422 and COM RS422 ports for centralised control.
When a control signal is received by the Yamaha AD824, the GAIN display briefly shows the unit’s ID number, making it easy to identify individual Yamaha AD824s in a multi-unit setup. This ID disappears once any operation is performed on the unit. Each ID is automatically assigned based on the unit’s position within the connection chain.
For digital output the AD824 uses optional mini YGDAI (Yamaha General Digital Audio Interface) cards, which are available in all the popular digital audio interconnect formats, including AES/EBU, ADAT, and Tascam TDIF-1.
