The Klein + Hummel UE-100 is a universal equaliser conceived to meet the wide variety of frequency-shaping tasks that emerged with modern disc cutting, broadcasting, film and television production. Rather than relying on inductors, the Klein + Hummel UE-100 achieves its frequency curves exclusively with RC networks in valve circuits.
This approach removes the compromises and drift that can accompany tuned coils, delivering very low harmonic and intermodulation distortion, wide and smooth transition regions between filter networks and exceptionally accurate, repeatable curves.
The Klein + Hummel UE-100 is built from uniform plug-in modules and features symmetrical input and output stages. Its pushbutton banks and stepped controls let engineers set frequency, amplitude and slope with clear, defined increments, making precise recall straightforward.
Owing to its extremely low noise, the UE-100 can be inserted directly in microphone lines or adapted to studio lines at nominal level. It can reproduce established equalisation characteristics, compensate unwanted spectral imbalances and be tailored to the subjective needs of artists or the tonal character of recordings.
For stereo work, two channels are used, and the matched, detented controls allow settings to be carried over with high accuracy for future reproductions. Internally, the Klein + Hummel UE-100 employs a carefully laid out chassis with high-quality passive components, a dedicated pushbutton amplifier network supplied from a negative rail, and a clearly partitioned signal path for stability across the entire audible frequency range.
