The Neumann KH 120 II is a next-generation two-way active nearfield studio monitor that refines the design of its acclaimed predecessor, the Neumann KH 120 A, with improved low-end extension, higher SPL capability, and cutting-edge DSP control. It delivers unmatched clarity, linearity, and adaptability in a compact format, making it ideal for professional mixing, editing, and mastering applications in small to mid-sized rooms or mobile setups.
The Neumann KH 120 II combines Neumann’s precision acoustic engineering with advanced DSP processing to achieve an exceptionally linear frequency response from 44Hz to 21kHz (±3dB) and a phase-linear response from 120Hz to 16kHz. This ensures razor-sharp imaging, transparent midrange, and detailed transient reproduction. The internal DSP enables linear-phase crossovers, automatic room alignment with Neumann’s MA 1 system, and tonal consistency within an ultra-tight ±0.5dB manufacturing tolerance.
The 5.25-inch (133mm) long-throw woofer delivers extended, distortion-free bass response down to 44Hz, while the 1-inch (25mm) alloy fabric dome tweeter ensures smooth and accurate high-frequency reproduction up to 21kHz. Both drivers are coupled to Neumann’s Mathematically Modelled Dispersion™ (MMD™) waveguide, providing a wide sweet spot and minimising unwanted reflections from nearby surfaces such as mixing consoles or desks.
Amplification is handled by Neumann’s patent-pending energy-efficient Class D amplifiers, delivering 145 watts to the woofer and 100 watts to the tweeter, with a total power consumption of only 17 watts at idle. This design offers low heat generation, extended reliability, and low environmental impact. The monitor also includes an automatic standby mode that reduces consumption to 0.3 watts when inactive.
The Neumann KH 120 II integrates both analogue and S/PDIF digital inputs for flexible connectivity, while the Neumann KH 120 II AES67 variant adds redundant Audio-over-IP capability fully compatible with broadcast standards including ST 2110, ST 2022-7, and RAVENNA, as well as DANTE-generated AES67 streams.
Compact yet powerful, the Neumann KH 120 II is recommended for listening distances of 1–2 metres, excelling in nearfield setups, editing suites, broadcast studios, and immersive environments.
