API ASM164 Summing Mixer

API introduced the API ASM164 Summing Mixer, a 16-channel analogue mixer designed to deliver the brand’s iconic summing performance in a compact 19-inch rack format. Drawing inspiration from the summing section of THE BOX® Console, the API ASM164 is a versatile and cost-effective solution for professional project studios, home studios, and production facilities.

The ASM164 offers 16 analogue summing channels with balanced, line-level DB-25 connectors, ensuring pristine signal quality. Each channel is equipped with proprietary API 2510 input opamps, insert send/return options, and a global 0dB channel level control bypass for added flexibility. A 31-step detented level control and continuously variable panning with a centre detent enable precise mixing.

The unit includes dual stereo program buses, Mix-A and Mix-B, with each channel assignable to either or both. Additional features include balanced stereo external input, assignable to Mix-A and/or Mix-B, and signature API 2520 opamps with proprietary output transformers, ensuring the classic API sound.

Visual monitoring is made easy with 4-segment LED level meters for each channel and analogue stereo output level VU meters. The mixer also boasts comprehensive rear panel connections for balanced input and output, as well as an external power supply for reliability.

“The API ASM164 is the perfect choice for those who want API’s legendary sound in a compact, efficient package,” an API representative noted at the unveiling. “Its design reflects our commitment to providing high-quality solutions for a wide range of studio environments.”

With its robust build quality and comprehensive feature set, the API ASM164 Summing Mixer is poised to become a must-have tool for engineers and producers seeking API’s unparalleled sonic character.
