PMC8-2 SUB is a high-performance low-frequency reference monitor designed for full-bandwidth, high-resolution monitoring in the most demanding professional environments. Building on the design philosophy of the PMC8 SUB, the PMC8-2 SUB delivers significantly higher output capability while retaining the same seamless system integration and reference-grade accuracy required for critical work.
Sharing the same DSP engine and integration approach as the PMC8 SUB, the PMC8-2 SUB offers enhanced specifications with greater maximum sound pressure levels while maintaining controlled, articulate bass performance down to 25Hz. Its enclosure matches the dimensions of the PMC8-2 midfield monitor, allowing consistent physical alignment and system layout within professional control rooms and immersive installations.
Low-frequency reproduction is handled by twin custom eight-inch bass drivers, each powered by its own 400W Class-D amplifier. This dual-driver, dual-amplifier configuration delivers exceptional headroom, authority, and dynamic range, making the PMC8-2 SUB suitable for high-level monitoring applications without compression or loss of definition. As with other PMC active systems, system configuration and calibration can be carried out using the rear-panel controls or via the browser-based SoundAlign™ software from a LAN-connected computer, tablet, or smartphone.
The PMC8-2 SUB can be deployed as a stand-alone subwoofer in multichannel and immersive systems, or used as an XBD cabinet in combination with PMC6-2 or PMC8-2 monitors. In XBD mode, the sub integrates perfectly with the main loudspeakers to create a system with exceptional power, scale, and dynamic range while maintaining accurate timing and tonal balance.
To support optimal system symmetry, the PMC8-2 SUB is available in left- and right-handed cabinet versions, designated PMC8-2 SUB-L and PMC8-2 SUB-R. This allows the bass drivers to be positioned on the outer edges of a stereo array, matching the physical layout of the main monitors and ensuring consistent acoustic performance across the system.
