Sony DRD-100 DAT Duplicator is a compact real time tape duplication system that reproduces both digital audio signals and all subcode data , including IEC time code, A-time, ID codes and programme numbers, with no loss of sound quality. Any unit may be configured as master or slave and up to 50 units can be linked for simultaneous mass duplication.
The Sony DRD-100 can also be switched into split-use mode so that one master controls two groups of slaves (for example 20 and 30 units) recording separate programmes at once. When paired with a Sony PCM-1630 U-matic mastering system and AS1-100 PQ signal converter it produces DAT master tapes bearing the same titles as the CD masters and conforming to the SCMS standard without any additional mastering step.
Serviceability of the Sony DRD-100 is enhanced by a removable cover that permits head cleaning and pre-start checks without disconnecting the transport mechanism. The unit occupies 100 mm of rack height and installs neatly into a standard 19 inch rack with the supplied adaptor.
For precise quality control an optional DRD-A100 error-rate analyser installed in an IBM-compatible PC provides real time block-error monitoring, six-second-interval error analysis, C-2 error mapping and printable graphical reports to ensure consistently superb duplicated-tape sound quality.
